Our why

Mahia te Aroha, The Christchurch Invitation was born out of the extraordinary response of support, compassion and mutual respect that followed the terror in Ōtautahi Christchurch on March 15th 2019. Developed by members of the Christchurch Muslim community the Invitation is extended to all, seeking to celebrate the rich diversity of our shared humanity while confronting the causes of prejudice and hate.

This is an invitation to help grow a vibrant community-based

movement that promotes authentic belonging and respect towards others; regardless of race or belief.

Compassion underpins all that we do.

We come in service to our four pillars, and those that share our kaupapa. We see collaboration and understanding as our path forward.

We know that many different groups and individuals share the values we wish to promote, and hope you will join with us in seeking a better future for all our children.

Mahia te Aroha invites you to action compassion.
